GCSE resit English Language and Maths

At Brook 6th Form & Academy, we are committed to supporting every student in meeting the academic benchmarks required for progression. As part of this commitment, Year 12 students who have not yet achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Mathematics will be given the opportunity to resit these exams.

These resits are not only essential, but they also form a critical requirement for academic progression:

  • Students currently enrolled in a Level 2 course must achieve at least a Grade 4 in English Language and/or Maths in order to progress to a Level 3 course in the following academic year.
  • Students already undertaking a Level 3 course who did not previously secure a Grade 4 or above in one or both subjects will be expected to resit during Year 12. Attaining the benchmark is necessary to proceed to the second year of their Level 3 studies.

The resit programme is designed to provide targeted teaching and support, enabling students to fill in any learning gaps and build confidence in preparation for their assessments. Attendance at these resit classes will be mandatory, and students are expected to demonstrate full engagement and commitment throughout the process.
