Engineering Maths Celebration Week

20 Jul

Year 10 and Year 12 students took part in the Engineering Maths Celebration Week Program.

The students worked on a Makedo Windball construction, a simple yet effective geometry project, which shows there is not a truly perfect sphere.  Spheres can be made out of squares, hexagons and triangles. It involves important fields such as design, prototyping, recycling and construction.

The students also created a honeycomb wall art to prove why hexagons are more efficient than other regular polygons by finding the ratio of the area and the perimeter of each regular polygon. As Engineering students it is important to understand the role of shapes in real life.
