16-19 Bursary Funding

The 16-19 Bursary is a payment granted to sixth form students in need of financial assistance. Payments are made directly to students that meet the eligibility criteria. To receive payment, a bank account must be active in the student’s name only. The bursary is paid fortnightly and payments are conditional on the terms of the bursary contract being met. The exact amount of the bursary is subject to variation year on year. Students will be able to make applications to the scheme during September.

Eligibility criteria

There are only 2 criteria for eligibility: Students in receipt of Free School Meals or Students living independently/students on income support/students with a disability

Students will need to provide proof of entitlement to Free School Meals so therefore it is advisable to apply for Free School Meals in advance of applying for the bursary, to ensure qualification.

To apply for Free School Meals (FSMs) please complete the online form, which can be found on the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) website.

Any queries, please contact Ms Odonkor, Brook Sixth Form and Academy Pastoral Support Manager, ac.odonkor@elutec.co.uk.
