Brook 6th Form and Academy Sixth Form Curriculum Offer 2024

Brook 6th Form and Academy aims to provide an engaging education for students who wish to pursue a career in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) or Digital Media.

Sixth Form (Key Stage 5) courses
With the exception of students completing Further Maths, all Level 3 students are expected to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Alongside their main courses of study, Level 2 and Level 3 sixth form students are encouraged to participate in an hour of physical fitness and exercise each week, and extra curriculum programmes, such as RSHE.

Students expecting to achieve GSCE grades 4/5 and above would expect to complete a Level 3 course in the sixth Form. Students that have not yet reached this benchmark would be expected to complete a Level 2 course in the sixth form.

Entry Criteria for A Level Subjects

A Level Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.0 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

A Level Maths and Physics
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and GCSE grade 7 and above in Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.5 and above across best 8 GCSE grades. Students completing A’ Level Physics must also complete A ‘Level Maths.

Entry Criteria for Technical Level 3 courses in Engineering

Extended Diploma in Engineering
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.0 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

Diploma in Engineering, plus A' Level Maths
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and GCSE grade 7 and above in Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.5 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

Technical Baccalaureate - Extended Diploma in Engineering, A Level Maths and EPQ or AS Further Maths
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 7/8 and above in English Language and Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 7.5 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

Diploma in Engineering plus GCSE English Language and or maths resit
For students expecting to achieve an average GCSE point score of 4.0 and above across best 6 GCSE grades, who have not yet reached the benchmark GCSE grade 4 and above in English Language and or Maths. These students will be expected to complete a GCSE resit in English and or Maths, achieving the benchmark GSCE grade 4 and above at the end of Year 12.

Extended Diploma in Digital Media
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.0 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

Diploma in Digital Media, plus A' Level Computer Science
For students expecting to achieve GCSE grade 5 and above in English Language and Maths, alongside six other subjects. An average GCSE point score of 5.0 and above across best 8 GCSE grades.

Diploma in Digital Media
For students expecting to achieve an average GCSE point score of 4.0 and above across best 6 GCSE grades, who have not yet reached the benchmark GCSE grade 4 and above in English Language and or Maths. These students will be expected to complete a GCSE resit in English and or Maths, achieving the benchmark GSCE grade 4 and above at the end of Year 12.
