Expectations
At Brook Sixth Form, we set high standards because we believe our students are capable of achieving exceptional outcomes. Our expectations are designed to prepare students not only for academic success, but for university, apprenticeships and the professional world beyond.
Attendance and Punctuality
Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential for success. Regular attendance ensures students do not miss key learning, while punctuality reflects the professionalism expected in higher education and the workplace.
Progression from Year 12 to Year 13 requires:
- Good attendance
- Excellent punctuality
- Achieving a pass grade across all subjects in end-of-year examinations
Students who meet these expectations place themselves in the strongest position to succeed in their final year.
Academic Commitment
Sixth Form study requires independence, resilience and consistent effort. Students are expected to:
- Complete all classwork and independent study to a high standard
- Meet deadlines
- Act on feedback to improve performance
- Take responsibility for their academic progress
GCSE English and Mathematics Re-sit
We provide students with the opportunity to re-sit GCSE English Language and/or Mathematics if they have not yet achieved the required benchmark grade.
For students studying Level 3 courses, achieving a minimum grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics is required in order to progress to the second year of their programme.
Professional Standards
We expect students to demonstrate maturity and respect in all aspects of Sixth Form life.
Adherence to the dress code, positive behaviour and respectful communication help create a focused learning environment and prepare students for the expectations of university and the workplace.
