For Key Stage 4, we offer the AQA GCSE Design and Technology qualification.

Students will develop a broad range of practical, creative and technical skills, exploring how products are designed, developed and manufactured. The course encourages students to think critically, solve real-world problems and apply their knowledge of materials, processes and modern technologies.

Through a combination of theoretical learning and hands-on practical projects, students will learn to research, design, prototype and manufacture products using traditional workshop techniques and advanced technologies, including CAD/CAM and high-tech manufacturing equipment.

Students will also have the opportunity to work on a project in collaboration with Ford Motor Company, applying their design and technology skills to a real-world industry challenge. This experience will help students gain valuable insight into the design and manufacturing processes used by leading companies.

Throughout the course, students will develop essential transferable skills such as creativity, problem-solving, teamwork and independent thinking, preparing them for further education and future careers in design, engineering and technology.

GCSE Design and Technology provides a strong foundation for progression into our Sixth Form, including A Level Product Design and Level 3 Engineering courses, opening pathways to university, apprenticeships and careers across a wide range of technical and creative industries.
