Year 13 BTEC and T Level Engineering students from Brook 6th Form visited the Royal College of Art for the Festival of the Future 2026, exploring developments in engineering, design, sustainability and innovation.

The event brought together creative thinking and emerging technologies, giving students opportunities to discover how engineering and design can contribute to solving real-world challenges.

Throughout the visit, students explored innovative ideas and practical applications, gaining insight into how technical knowledge and creative problem-solving are used across different industries.

The experience provided an opportunity to connect their Engineering studies with wider developments in design and technology, while encouraging them to consider future pathways into higher education and careers in the sector.

Student Council members at Brook 6th Form have taken the lead in organising activities to mark Black History Month 2026, encouraging students to explore, recognise and celebrate Black history, culture and achievements.

The Student Council introduced the programme through a special assembly, presenting a range of educational and interactive activities planned for October.

These included Guess the Flag challenges, Black History Month quizzes, educational videos, posters and subject spotlights highlighting the contributions and achievements of Black individuals across different fields.

The initiative reflects the creativity, teamwork and leadership of the Student Council, who have played an active role in encouraging their peers to engage with important historical and cultural topics.

Through these activities, students have been encouraged to broaden their understanding, celebrate diversity and reflect on the contributions that have shaped society.

Students from Brook Academy and Brook 6th Form recently visited UCL PEARL, a research facility located next to the school, to discover how engineering, technology and scientific research contribute to our understanding of the environments around us.

Year 10 pupils were the first to visit, exploring the facility and learning how researchers use technology and engineering to investigate and shape the environments of the future.

Year 12 students subsequently took part in their own visit, touring the facilities and gaining insight into the research taking place at UCL PEARL. The experience also introduced students to potential pathways into higher education, scientific research and STEM-related careers.

The visits strengthened the connection between classroom learning and university-level research, giving students from both key stages opportunities to see how STEM subjects are applied beyond school.

With UCL PEARL located on the school's doorstep, the partnership provides valuable opportunities to connect students with research, innovation and future career possibilities.

Year 10 pupils at Brook Academy have begun an exciting two-year programme with Ford, connecting their classroom learning with practical experience and insight into the automotive and engineering industries.

Representatives from Ford visited the school to deliver an introductory presentation, giving pupils an overview of the company's history, its work in automotive manufacturing and its role within the wider engineering sector.

The session also introduced the projects and opportunities pupils will be involved in over the next two years, providing opportunities to explore how engineering and design principles are applied in industry.

Through the partnership, pupils will be able to develop their understanding of engineering while discovering the skills and knowledge involved in careers within the automotive sector.

The programme forms part of Brook Academy's commitment to providing a STEM-focused education enriched by meaningful engagement with industry partners.

Students at Brook 6th Form celebrated another year of strong academic and technical results in August 2026, securing places at leading universities and progressing into degree apprenticeships.

Across A Level Mathematics and Physics, 25% of grades awarded were A* or A. Students also achieved Distinction and Merit grades across T Level and BTEC Engineering programmes, alongside achievements in T Level Media.

These achievements reflect the range of academic and technical pathways available at Brook 6th Form, supporting students to progress into higher education, professional training and employment.

Year 12 A Level Mathematics students from Brook 6th Form visited Bletchley Park, the historic home of British codebreaking during the Second World War, for an educational experience exploring mathematics, computing and cryptography.

During the visit, students discovered the important role mathematics played in wartime codebreaking and explored how mathematical thinking continues to influence modern technology.

Students also participated in interactive artificial intelligence challenges and had the opportunity to operate a genuine working Enigma machine, gaining firsthand experience of the technology associated with one of the most significant chapters in computing history.

The trip helped students make connections between their A Level studies and practical applications of mathematics, highlighting its importance in areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and computer science.

T Level Media students from Brook 6th Form recently took part in a careers-focused visit, gaining valuable insight into the professional world of photography, film and the wider creative industries.

During the visit, students met professional photographer Jimmy Lee, who shared his experiences of working in street photography, behind-the-scenes photography for film and television productions, and documentary projects undertaken during the pandemic.

Students also participated in a careers networking workshop led by creative consultant Liza V, exploring how to develop professional connections and prepare for opportunities within the creative workforce.

The experience helped students gain a better understanding of the different career pathways available within the media sector and the importance of creativity, adaptability and networking in professional environments.

The visit complemented their T Level Media studies by connecting classroom learning with the experiences of professionals working in the creative industries.

Students at Brook 6th Form recently took part in an awareness session delivered through Anthony Nolan's Hero Project, learning about the importance of blood, stem cell and organ donation.

The session explored how donations can help save lives and introduced students to the impact individuals can make through becoming potential donors.

Following the session, 14 students signed up to become potential stem cell donors, demonstrating a willingness to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of others.

The initiative provided students with valuable information about donation and the importance of making informed decisions, while encouraging greater awareness of how individuals can support people facing serious health conditions.

The school congratulates the students who chose to register and thanks Anthony Nolan for helping raise awareness of this important cause.

Brook 6th Form students made history at the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2026, becoming the youngest team ever to compete in the event.

The team, made up of Year 13 STEM students from the school's after-school Karting Club, designed and built a vintage Ferrari-inspired soapbox racer before taking to the track on Saturday 20 June.

Competing against 51 other teams, including entrants representing major organisations and well-known brands, the students secured an impressive 16th place out of 52 teams and received a perfect 10/10 performance score from the judges.

Their achievement attracted wider media attention, with their journey subsequently featured on BBC News' Tech Now programme. Red Bull also recognised the team's record-breaking participation.

The project demonstrated the students' engineering skills, creativity, teamwork and determination, providing an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge to a challenging real-world competition.

Students from Brook 6th Form and Academy have been recognised with Jack Petchey Achievement Awards, celebrating their dedication, creativity and positive contributions to the school community.

The awards, presented through the Jack Petchey Foundation, recognise young people who demonstrate commitment, determination and qualities that make a positive difference to those around them.

The students' achievements highlight the importance of recognising contributions beyond academic results, including personal development, creativity and involvement in school life.

A group of Brook Sixth Form and Academy students recently presented an innovative project through the UCL PEARL Ambassadors Programme, focused on improving the experience of NHS waiting areas.

The students explored challenges patients often face while waiting for appointments and considered how these spaces could be redesigned to better support comfort and wellbeing. Their project examined the full sensory experience of the environment, including sight, sound, smell, touch, and atmosphere.

Through research, design planning, and collaboration, the team developed an immersive simulation that demonstrated how waiting areas could feel more welcoming and supportive for patients.

The project highlighted creativity, empathy, and thoughtful problem solving. It also showed how students at Brook engage with real world challenges through partnerships with leading institutions such as UCL.

Students at Brook Sixth Form and Academy recently welcomed Sarah Dennis from Puretrack Racing for an inspiring assembly and workshop.

Sarah shared her journey from racing driver to owning and managing her own motorsport team. During the session, she spoke about overcoming challenges, building resilience, and pursuing a career in a competitive industry.

Students gained insight into the motorsport sector and the determination required to succeed in the field. Sarah also visited the academy’s Karting Club workshop, where she spoke directly with students about their interests and ambitions in engineering and motorsport.

The visit provided valuable motivation and highlighted the range of career opportunities within the motorsport industry.

Brook Sixth Form and Academy marked National Apprenticeship Week from 9th to 13th February with a series of assemblies focused on apprenticeship pathways and career opportunities.

Leading employers visited the academy to speak directly with students at the Cube about routes into their industries. Organisations including Ford, NTT Data, HSBC, PwC, the Royal Navy, VolkerFitzpatrick, and Mulalley shared insight into apprenticeship programmes, entry expectations, and application processes.

Students gained a clear understanding of how apprenticeships combine employment with training and qualifications. The sessions also highlighted the wide range of sectors where apprenticeships offer strong career progression.

National Apprenticeship Week gave students guidance and encouraged them to consider apprenticeships as a valuable pathway after sixth form.

Brook Sixth Form and Academy was honoured to welcome Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, for a special visit with students.

During the session, Tessy shared her personal journey and spoke about the work of The Diana Award, a charity established to recognise young people who create positive change in their communities.

She also led a mentoring workshop with Year 12 female students, focusing on leadership, confidence, and personal development. Students took part in discussion and reflection activities designed to encourage ambition and self belief.

The visit provided an inspiring opportunity for students to learn from a recognised leader and to reflect on the impact they can have within their communities and future careers.
