    Brook Students Reimagine NHS Waiting Areas Through UCL PEARL Programme

    A group of Brook Sixth Form and Academy students recently presented an innovative project through the UCL PEARL Ambassadors Programme, focused on improving the experience of NHS waiting areas.

    The students explored challenges patients often face while waiting for appointments and considered how these spaces could be redesigned to better support comfort and wellbeing. Their project examined the full sensory experience of the environment, including sight, sound, smell, touch, and atmosphere.

    Through research, design planning, and collaboration, the team developed an immersive simulation that demonstrated how waiting areas could feel more welcoming and supportive for patients.

    The project highlighted creativity, empathy, and thoughtful problem solving. It also showed how students at Brook engage with real world challenges through partnerships with leading institutions such as UCL.

    Students at Brook Sixth Form and Academy recently welcomed Sarah Dennis from Puretrack Racing for an inspiring assembly and workshop.

    Sarah shared her journey from racing driver to owning and managing her own motorsport team. During the session, she spoke about overcoming challenges, building resilience, and pursuing a career in a competitive industry.

    Students gained insight into the motorsport sector and the determination required to succeed in the field. Sarah also visited the academy’s Karting Club workshop, where she spoke directly with students about their interests and ambitions in engineering and motorsport.

    The visit provided valuable motivation and highlighted the range of career opportunities within the motorsport industry.

    National Apprenticeship Week at Brook Sixth Form and Academy

    From 9th to 13th February 2026

    Brook Sixth Form and Academy marked National Apprenticeship Week from 9th to 13th February with a series of assemblies focused on apprenticeship pathways and career opportunities.

    Leading employers visited the academy to speak directly with students at the Cube about routes into their industries. Organisations including Ford, NTT Data, HSBC, PwC, the Royal Navy, VolkerFitzpatrick, and Mulalley shared insight into apprenticeship programmes, entry expectations, and application processes.

    Students gained a clear understanding of how apprenticeships combine employment with training and qualifications. The sessions also highlighted the wide range of sectors where apprenticeships offer strong career progression.

    National Apprenticeship Week gave students guidance and encouraged them to consider apprenticeships as a valuable pathway after sixth form.

    CEO of The Diana Award Visits Brook Sixth Form and Academy

    Brook Sixth Form and Academy was honoured to welcome Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, for a special visit with students.

    During the session, Tessy shared her personal journey and spoke about the work of The Diana Award, a charity established to recognise young people who create positive change in their communities.

    She also led a mentoring workshop with Year 12 female students, focusing on leadership, confidence, and personal development. Students took part in discussion and reflection activities designed to encourage ambition and self belief.

    The visit provided an inspiring opportunity for students to learn from a recognised leader and to reflect on the impact they can have within their communities and future careers.
